Severe Weather Season Has Arrived

As warmer weather approaches, Minnesotans need to be aware of the increased potential for weather dangers such as thunderstorms, lightning, and tornados.

The South Lake Minnetonka Police Department recommends that every home, school, and office have a weather alert radio, which can be programmed to alert you when the National Weather Service determines that severe weather may be approaching your area. They are relatively inexpensive and easy to use. WCCO and your local Cub Foods store are currently offering a weather alert radio at a significantly reduced price. Please visit http://wcco.com/community/local_story_116165521.html for details. For information about purchasing these devices on-line, Please go to http://www.weatherradios.com/start.php?homepage=true . Or, simply visit a local electronics store such as Radio Shack.

In preparation for severe weather season each year, members of the the SLMPD Reserve Unit periodically attend Skywarn Spotter training through the National Weather Service.
