Speed Awareness In the past few months, you may have noticed the City of Shorewoodís Speed Monitoring Awareness Radar Trailer (SMART) monitoring motoristsí speeds at various locations throughout the city. Since police officers canít be everywhere at once, SMART is designed to assist in promoting speed limit compliance and send a reminder to motorists to slow down.
Traffic crashes killed 494 people on Minnesota roads in 2006. The two biggest culprits are excessive speed and driver inattentiveness. The South Lake Minnetonka Police Department urges all drivers to SLOW DOWN, BUCKLE UP, DRIVE SOBER, and PAY ATTENTION.
If we all heeded these simple rules, the number of deaths and serious injuries on our roads could be greatly reduced. Letís all do our part!
