May Seat Belt Mobilization Project

By virtue of receiving a $2,000 mini-grant from the Minnesota Office of Traffic Safety, the South Lake Minnetonka Police Department (SLMPD) will be participating in a state-wide project focused on increasing seat belt and child restraint usage through education and enforcement.  The enforcement phase will take place May 18-31, 2009, during which time the grant will fund the additional expense of having SLMPD officers dedicated to this effort.  The project also includes taking informal seat belt surveys before and after the enforcement phase along with corresponding media releases to help get the message out to the motoring public. To learn more about the importance of buckling up, please go to the Office of Traffic Safety web page at  http://www.dps.state.mn.us/ots/ .
